Visiting:  Torremolinos, Mijas, Marbella, Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Malaga and the Good Friday Processions, Gibraltar, Ronda and the Easter Sunday Procession

Monday 14th April:  We meet at the airport at 5.30am for our direct flight departing at 8.00am and arriving at Malaga Airport at 11.00am.  From here we will make our way by private coach to our 4 star hotel in Torremolinos on the Costa del Sol.  In the afternoon we will have an optional excursion to Mijas and Marbella.  We will start off by visiting Mijas, a village with pure Andalucian charm and character with cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, old wine taverns and boutiques selling potter and artistic leather.  We then proceed to the picturesque town of Marbella to enjoy some relaxing time which is often visited by the rich and famous. Optional dinner at hotel.

Tuesday 15th April:  Breakfast followed by a full day optional excursion to Seville, the capital of Andalucia.  We will start this excursion with a city tour of the historical city and then walk to the city centre towards the Cathedral, – the third largest in the Catholic world.  We can also see the Giralda, the Alcazar Palace, the Tower of God and a view of the river Guadalquiver.  Some free time and then we proceed to the famous Plaza d’Espagna and the beautiful Maria Luisa gardens.  Optinal dinner at hotel.

Wednesday 16th April:  Breakfast and today we offer you another full day optional excursion to Granada, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada.  We first visit the Capilla Royal, the gothic Granada Cathedral and later explore the maze of ancient narrow streets in the city centre, full of local crafts and delicacies.  Later we will visit the famous Alhambra, built on top of hill.  The Palace complexes and Generalife Gardens, besides the Albaicin, have been declared World Heritage Sites.  Here we will be visiting the incredible Alhambra complex, hills, village, the old Alcazaba and The Generalife Gardens which were the summer residence of the Nazari Monarchs, along with the Palace of Carlos V.  Optional dinner at hotel.

Thursday 17th April:  Breakfast and today we will have another full day optional excursion to Cordoba, a city of history and arts.  We shall visit the famous Mesquita, Cordoba’s Cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady and former Islamic Mosque and supported by 850 columns.  We will walk to the antique Jewish quarters, a labyrinth of narrow winding streets of great charm and beauty.  Free time is given to explore the traditional piazzas, the Roman temples and monuments.  Optional dinner at hotel.

Friday 18th April – Good Friday:  Today after breakfast we will enjoy a free morning in Torremolinos. Optional lunch (instead of dinner) at hotel and afterwards we will have an optional excursion to Malaga.  We will first have a walk through the piazzas and beautiful streets decorated for the Holy Week activities, followed by a visit to the imposing Malaga Cathedral, where we attend the last part of the Good Friday service.  Afterwards, we will join the crowds for the traditional and post popular Good Friday processions – a truly wonderful experience!.  We return to hotel late evening.

Saturday 19th April:  Breakfast and our full day optional excursion today takes us to the Rock of Gibraltar – a duty-free British territory.  This is a great opportunity for one to do some shopping in the Main Street.  In the afternoon, one can visit the spectacular St. Michael’s Caves, Europa Point and the famous Barbary Apes (entrance and transport extra).

Sunday 20th April – Easter Sunday: Breakfast and today’s full day excursion will see us driving by the old romantic road to Ronda, perched on high mountains.  We have time to visit Plaza de Toros, the 18th century bullring, and its bullfighting museum (extra), home to some of the most famous matadors in history.  We then join the locals for the Easter procession with the statue of the Risen Christ and the statue of Our Lady, carried shoulder high by young women.  Later we will explore this picturesque town seeped in history.  One can attend the Easter Sunday mass celebration in Ronda’s Cathedral adorned with the antique Good Friday statues.

Monday 21st April:  After our last breakfast, we will check out of rooms and proceed to Malaga airport for our flight departing at 11.45am and arriving in Malta at 2.30pm.
