WEDNESDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER
We meet at the airport at 3.45am for our Ryanair flight which departs at 5.45 and arriving at Bari airport at 7.05am. On arrival we depart by private coach which takes us to Alberobello, where we can see the Trulli – houses built in a unique picturesque style. Free time to roam about, buy souvenirs or eat something (extra). We then continue our way to Hotel Sollievo 3*** in San Giovanni Rotondo. Check in and dinner in hotel (included).
THURSDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER
Breakfast. Today we will visit various places in San Giovanni Rotondo on foot, such as the Sanctuary of Saint Mary of Graces, the Museum of Saint Pio, The Crypt, His room, The Miraculous Crucifix and The Confessional. We also see the hospital Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza and the new church dedicated to Saint Pio of Pietralcina, where we celebrate Mass. Dinner in hotel (included).
FRIDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER
Breakfast followed by another excursion. We leave for Foggia where we visit The Convent of St Anna, where Padre Pio lived for six months. We will also see various memorablia related to this Saint, and hear some stories which happened during his stay. We will also celebrate Mass. Afterwards we depart again by coach to visit The Basilica of The Crowned Madonna which, through the years, was visited by Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Anthony of Padova, Saint Pio of Pietrelcina and Saint Pope John Paul II. Time to buy souvenirs and leave for the Foggia Shopping Mall where we can eat (extra) and do some shopping. We then proceed by coach to Monte Sant’Angelo on the Gargano Mountain. Here we find the cave and the Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel. This sacred place was visited frequently by Padre Pio, accompanied by his fellow monks. This Basilica/Sanctuary presently is under custody of the Congregation of Mikelini of Polish origin. Dinner at Hotel (included).
SATURDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER
Breakfast followed by an excursion to Pietrelcina and Morcone. Our first stop will be in Pietralcina, a small village where Padre Pio was born and lived until he was 31 years old. We will see various places related to Padre Pio, such as the Parish Church, where on the 14th of August 1910, he celebrated Mass for the first time. Free time to buy souvenirs and eat (extra).
We then continue on our way to Morcone where we find the convent in which Padre Pio was admitted to the religious habit and to the novitiate. We visit the Convent and hear important things about this Saint. We then proceed to San Giovanni Rotondo where we have dinner in Hotel (included).
SUNDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER
After breakfast, we check out of rooms and depart by private coach to Bari. Here we visit, amongst other places, the magnificent Cathedral dedicated to Saint Nicholas which is visited by a lot of pilgrims. We also celebrate Mass. We then proceed to Bari airport for our Ryanair flight departing at 4.35pm and arriving in Malta at 5.55pm.
