Tuesday 29th April
We will meet at the airport at 3.30am for our KM Malta Airlines flight to Ljubljana departing at 6.00am. On arrival at 8.00am, we will cross over to Austria. First, we will visit Velden, the famous and vibrant village on the shore of Lake Wörthersee. We then proceed to the 17th century town of Klagenfurt in the southern part of Austria. Located on the eastern bank of Lake Worthersee, Carinthia’s capital makes a wonderful destination thanks to its cultural treasures and nearby mountains. The Neuer platz is dominated by the Lindwurm, a winged dragon, which is the emblem of the city and was modelled on the dragon of a local legend. Later, we will make our way to Kranjska Gora and check-in at our 4-Star Hotel Ramada & Suites in Kranjska Gora. Buffet dinner at hotel.
Wednesday 30th April
Buffet breakfast and then we depart on today’s excursion, which will start by going to Skocjan Caves (entrance extra), renowned for their immense underground chambers, stunning stalactites, and the powerful Reka River flowing through them. This cave system is one of the largest in Europe, offering breathtaking natural beauty and rich geological significance. Then, we will make our way to Skofja Loka, a picturesque medieval town where one can admire a picturesque bridge that crosses the Selska Sora river, that takes you to the old town. It is the oldest bridge in Slovenia (around 600 years old) that remained intact up to this date. Buffet dinner at hotel.
Thursday 1st May
Buffet breakfast and this morning, we will make our way to Kozjak Waterfalls (entrance extra), nicely set by a gorge where we will first cross a wooden suspended bridge while admiring some more stunning views. We will then go through the Predil Pass, towards a Beekeeping house, where we will learn about their methods and enjoy a tasting of their products and a lovely barbeque (included) in this incredibly beautiful setting. Evening buffet dinner at hotel.
Friday 2nd May
Today, after buffet breakfast, we go for a relaxing excursion to Bled, known as the “Pearl of the Slovenian Alpine region”, due to its emerald-green lake and the church on the small island in the middle of the lake. We shall visit Bled Castle (entrance extra) up on the hill above the lake. We then proceed to Bohinj, the largest glacier lake in Slovenia, situated in the region of the Julian Alps where we will have enough time to relax at the side of the peaceful Bohinj Lake and take in the natural beauty all around. Afterwards, we will take a cable car (extra and weather permitting) up to Mount Vogel where we can admire the magnificent view from the summit. Buffet dinner at hotel.
Saturday 3rd May
Buffet breakfast and check out of rooms. We will then make our way to Ljubljana. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a city tour round Ljubljana. This friendly city has a baroque section of the old town, with narrow, cobbled streets nestled between the castle slopes and the river Ljubljanica. Particular highlights of the old town include the Cathedral of St Nikolai, City Hall, and the three bridges. We will begin with a panoramic city tour followed by a walking tour. Here we have some free time where one can take a boat ride (extra – weather permitting) on the River Ljubljanica and/or enjoy some shopping. We then proceed to Ljubljana Airport for our KM Malta Airlines flight departing at 10.20pm and arriving in Malta at 00.20am.
